Terms & Conditions
By registering and attending the second Deaf Muslim Expo (heretofore referred to as DME), to be held from 8 October to 9 October 2022 at Student Center East at University of Illinois Chicago, Chicago, Illinois, each participant acknowledges and agrees to the following terms and conditions as the criteria of being accepted to attend the conference.

Release of Liability
All participants are solely responsible for any financial, physical, or legal liability that they may incur before, during, or after their participation in DME. Participants agree to assume all incurred costs, including, but not limited to, transportation, flights, and hotel stay. Global Deaf Muslim-USA (GDM-USA or its parents organization Global Deaf Muslim), and all other event organizers and sponsors are fully released from any financial, physical, or legal liabilities that participants may incur as a result of their participation with the Expo.

Registration & Early Bird Discounts
All individuals wishing to attend DME must be completely registered, having provided all required information, and paid in full before entering the Expo venue. Registration can be completed via the DME website, www.deafmuslimexpo.com . You may register on behalf of others, however you are deemed to be liable for the participants you register. There will be no on-site registration. Early Bird discounts will be available until 31 August 2022. After the date, the general registration fees will apply. The last day to register for the conference will be October 8 2022 unless the ticket sold out.

Refunds
All refund requests must be submitted via e-mail to [email protected] no later than 31 August 2022 for a full refund and no later than 16 September 2022 for half refund. There will be no refunds granted after 16th September 2022.

Accessibility Needs
Participants should advise of any special access requirements (i.e. wheelchair access, materials in braille, etc.) at the time of registration.

Travel & Health Insurance Coverage
It is the responsibility of all participants to arrange appropriate insurance coverage (e.g. health insurance, travel insurance, etc.) as they deem necessary during their participation in the event, DME-USA, its organizers, and its sponsors will not assume responsibility for any loss, stolen, or damaged property. Additionally, DME its organizers, and its sponsors do not assume responsibility for any medical expenses for participants. Please ensure that you have adequate insurance to cover health and travel for this period. Your insurance should also cover your inability to travel as DME-USA will not be liable in the event that you have paid for travel that you are unable to take.

Event Decorum/Student Center East
All participants will follow instructions given by DME-USA staff and organizers. Participants will conduct themselves in a manner that is conducive to the event as well as in accordance with Islamic etiquette. Participants will limit social interaction to designated times during the program, providing their full attention during workshops and lectures. Participants are NOT to act as representatives of DME when interacting with outside entities (i.e. building staff, government officials, etc.). Additionally, participants agree to follow all Wojcik Conference Center policies at their respective facilities, rooms, including respecting the maximum number of occupants allowed per room.

Age of Participation
All participants must be a minimum of 18 years of age to attend the event. Children under the age of 18 are NOT permitted without accompanying parents or adults. It is the parent’s responsibility to provide adequate child care before the event commences. Anybody violating this policy will be asked to leave the session. Children are permitted to attend during meals and refreshment times and activities that are age-appropriate.

Distribution of Materials & Views Expressed

Participants will not sell or distribute any flyers or other materials unless explicit approval is provided by DME organizers, prior to distribution. Views expressed by speakers and exhibitors are their own. DME cannot accept liability for advice given, or views expressed, by any speaker/exhibitor at the conference or in any material provided to participants.

COVID-19

By registering to attend the Deaf Muslim Expo and by physically attending it, participants acknowledge, understand, and accept the risk of possible exposure to the coronavirus (COVID-19). Deaf Muslim Expo is taking reasonable precautions to minimize the risk of such exposure to attendees, such precautionary measures are not perfect and any activity involving multiple individuals during this pandemic presents a risk of infection. In consideration for receiving permission to attend the convention, all participants hereby release, waive, and discharge Deaf Muslim Expo and its employees, agents, representatives, and their successors or assignees, from any and all liability, claims, demands, actions, and causes of action of any kind arising out of or related to any actual or suspected exposure to COVID-19, or participation in the event.

Visas
It is the responsibility of each participant to obtain an entry visa (if required) for the event. If necessary, DME-USA organizers will assist you by providing a formal letter of invitation to participate in the conference, after registration is completed and payment is received in full. Requests for letters of invitation for visa purposes must be submitted in writing, no later than 1 September 2022.

In the event of a dispute arising out of or in connection with these terms or any contact between the DME organizers and the participant, then the participant agrees to attempt to settle the dispute by engaging in good faith with DME organizers in a process of mediation before commencing arbitration or litigation.

If any of these terms is at any time held by any jurisdiction to be void, invalid, or unenforceable, then it shall be treated as changed or reduced, only to the extent minimally necessary to bring it within the laws of that jurisdiction and to prevent it from being void and it shall be bind in that changed or reduced form.

The Second DME-USA of Deaf Muslims maintains the right to remove, add, or modify the Terms and Conditions as set out with or without notice. If you require clarification of these terms or have any concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us at [email protected]
